Since 6th grade, we’ve been motivated and encouraged to study hard, get good grades, stay in school, graduate, and go to college.
It's because of support like yours that we can create a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in rural school districts.
Obtaining a college degree and making a difference in my life, my family and community is my goal.
As a middle school student, whenever I needed help with my homework or had a question, I knew where to go for help. Now that I’m a tutor I give that same kind of help to new students.
The first time I visited a college campus was in the 7th grade. That trip made me determined to keep my GPA as high as possible and to take Advanced Placement classes so I can attend college after graduation.”
Graduating from high school, obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, and maybe a Doctorate degree, and assuring a good life for my future family is my goal. College is not a dream, it’s my plan!
I just heard that after one more year the grant for our school will be up. How can a program that has done so much for my community and students come to an end?
I’m not Hispanic, so it was great to learn about the culture of Latino students and about the programs that are helping them get to college and become citizens. They really want to make a difference in the United States.
“Tutoring is a job that I enjoy and that I am paid to do. But it’s not just about getting paid. The best part is helping these kids realize that they can change their lives.”
“Our field trips also help parents because they can come along with us to learn about how a college campus works. They are shown around by a student guide who answers their questions about financial aid and admission requirements.”
This is not just another program that promises to be there when you need it but never comes through. It empowers students to realize that they can get better grades, stay in school, graduate and go on to post-secondary education.
